LEGO® Bricks as Art
I got my first LEGO® set when I was four years old, and I grew up playing and telling stories with my castle, space, and pirate sets.
Years later, as an adult helping my own kids assemble their LEGO® sets, I realized how far the variety of pieces had come from the basic bricks I had as a kid. LEGO® elements had expanded into new types and functions and a wide variety of colors.
My journey into building MOCs (My Own Creations) began with very small and simple models. I had so much fun building without instructions, LEGO® bricks quickly became the medium of choice in my creative endeavors.
My goal as an artist is to use this linear and inflexible tool to build models that feel organic, fluid, and beautiful. I love the challenge of creating art that doesn’t look like it could be made of rigid molded pieces of plastic.
It turns out that LEGO® bricks are no longer just for kids’ playrooms; LEGO® art belongs everywhere to remind us to play and find beauty in the unexpected.
